Second World War
Prague
History of Prague under Nazi occupation.
Prague under dark cloud
From 1939 to 1945, Prague was under Nazi occupation — a time marked by fear, control, and quiet acts of resistance. Though the city's architecture remained largely untouched, daily life was anything but normal. The Gestapo headquarters, propaganda offices, and forced labor shaped the city's rhythm, while underground movements risked everything to fight back. Prague became both a showcase city for the Nazis and a silent witness to widespread oppression.
Where history happened
This tour offers a unique opportunity to learn about the general history of Prague under Nazi occupation. From the outbreak of World War II, the occupation of Czechoslovakia, and powerful stories of Czech resistance — all while visiting key sites that witnessed this difficult chapter of history.
This tour provides a broader perspective, helping visitors understand the wider historical context of life in Prague during the war.
Anthropoid
You will visit the crypt of the Church of St. Cyril and St. Methodius, the historic site where three brave Czechoslovak paratroopers made their last stand following the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich in 1942. Surrounded by Nazi forces, they fought heroically in the church’s crypt, which has since become a powerful symbol of resistance and sacrifice.
